Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) Fall Newsletter

PBSC is a national, multiple award-winning organization with chapters in 22 of Canada’s 23 law schools. The first pro bono organization in the country, PBSC has been working with law schools and the bar to deliver high-quality legal services for over 20 years. PBSC has extensive program expertise and experience designing access to justice placements that are recognized as having a significant impact on access to justice. Supreme Court Justice Rosalie Abella has described PBSC as “one of the most visionary undertakings I have seen in my 40 years at the bar.”

Free Public Legal Education Workshops – Oct and Nov, Edmonton

Edmonton Community Legal Centre (ECLC) will provide Public Legal Education workshops in October and November 2018. These presentations are FREE and open to the public and certain locations require registration.

NOTE: Video Versions of ECLC presentations are now available online. This is a great alternative if you are unable to attend the in-person presentations. The links are:

ECLC continues to hold the Family Law Series Presentations at the Downtown Enterprise Square Branch Library 10212 Jasper Avenue NW every Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. These presentations are open to the public with the option to register to be contacted for a potential follow-up meeting with a Family Law Lawyer for additional assistance. The schedules for the topics are as follows:

  • Child Custody and Parenting: November 1, November 2, December 13
  • Child and Spousal Support: October 18, November 8, November 29, December 20
  • Property Division: October 25, November 15, December 6

A presentation on Immigration Law is will take place at the Candora Society (200 Capilano Mall, 5616 101 Avenue) on Thursday, October 25  at 5 :30 PM. The presentation will cover:

Women’s Centre of Calgary Legal Advice Clinic Newsletter

The Women’s Centre of Calgary continues to serve a great number of women in our community. In the first 5 months of this year, the Centre successfully hosted 76 legal advice clinics with a total attendance of 157 women.
